More Parking destined for DownTown Burlington.

Recently Crews finished up the work that has been getting done at the corner of Pine and Pearl St.'s. They had been demolishing the former Retirement facility and California Hair works. We can't help but find the irony in the fact that Philip Papadopoulos the owner of California Hair works who also ran for Mayor of Burlington loosing to Cam Jackson in 2006 (was it almost 3 years ago allready?) under the main platform of Parking issues downtown Burlington, has finally contributed to solving the problem by leaving DownTown Burlington and selling his property to the Reichmann family of developers, so that they may re-develop the retirement facility and add more spaces at the location @ Pine + Pearl as well as add much needed Commercial office space above Ground (as was done with DownTown's first and only fully functioning multiuse building at the corner of Locust and Lakeshore Rd., where you'll find ground floor retail, and upper floor residential with office space sandwiched in-between.)

Now since the economic outlook has changed for folks like the Reichmann's they have paused their submission to Burlington City Hall (so we hear) for about 3 years. In the interim the lot is going to be dedicated to much needed Public Parking space for visitors to DownTown Burlington.

So if your thinking of coming DownTown this spring and summer you may well be happy to find that DownTown has gotten lucky enough to have a temporary fix to alleviate some of the Parking Pressures.

Sorry I neglected to mention this. The tree above we feel very much need not have been destroyed as many of the other trees that were taken down on that lot. We hope very much @ VDTB that Burlington learns from it's neighbours like Oakville and Toronto and starts safe guarding these trees and does not allow them to be taken down in the future. They will if we encourage them to...
